The Pension Geeks Pensions Roadshow sadly finished in August but you don’t have to wait another year. Working with IMI our savings crusade will continue, as us Geeks have so much more exciting programmes to bring you in the coming months.

The Roadshow saw IMI staff turning out in your droves to watch our lively pension webinars and to interact with us via our live Q&As. So, thank you all for taking part in the Roadshow, getting connected with your pensions and challenging us with your many questions. That’s exactly what we’re here for!

What did you tell us?

Last year, the majority of questions and concerns were focused on the value of your pension pots, as these values dropped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of you reported that you’ve now started to see your investments returning to normal levels, which is really reassuring news. Remember, pensions are a long-term investment and there will be bumps in the road along the way.

Another key topic was your benefit statements, with many of you asking if these were out of date as soon as you received them. The honest answer is yes, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read your statement and use the information to get to know you pension. To get a fully up-to-date value, you need to register with MercerMoney, which you can access either by downloading the app or viewing on your desktop.

Combining different pension pots, pensions and tax and the State Pension – were all hot topics during the week. With these in mind, we’ll be bringing you more helpful content on these subjects throughout the rest of this year and into next. Like we said during the roadshow, make sure you dig out your pensions ‘shoebox of shame’ and go through any of your old paperwork on your pensions - you’ll feel so much more in control of your pensions if you do. Don’t let them get away.

Nerd warning… getting a State Pension forecast and checking your State Pension age is very important too. You can find this information on government’s websites. The State Pension is a key piece to your future planning!

You also told us that the current IMI Pensions website is hard to navigate and you find it difficult to find the information you need on your pension. We have listened to your feedback and are thrilled to announce that a new Pensions website will be launching at the beginning of December! Woohoo!

There’s no doubt, the 121 sessions we ran were hugely valuable. These were fully booked and demand exceeded expectation – that’s what we like to hear! You told us that our Geeky guiders were great and that you prefer to talk to them via a good old fashioned telephone call, rather than a Zoom or Teams link.
